Mentor Corps (Mentors) Project
Volunteers are asked to give a six-month commitment to mentoring a refugee individual and/or family. The volunteers will help refugee(s) enhance the English as a Second Language as well as act as a friend to the newcomer(s) in exposing them to the variety of community resources (ex. Libraries, parks, etc.) in Metro Louisville. Some suggested activities with the Mentor Program include helping refugees shop frugally at grocery stores, consignment shops, going to yard sales as well as how to use cleanings products and properly storing and preparing food.
Requirements: Criminal Background Check, completion of two training sessions, and a commitment of 2 hours per week.
